Career Employment Group Inc is seeking applications for a Cafe Trainee to work with our valued Host Employer in Port Augusta. This position requires you to work 5 days a week, including weekends, on a 7 day roster.

As part of this position, you will undertake a Certificate III in Hospitality, where you will learn to work effectively in café and hospitality environments.

Position Details

As a Cafe Trainee, you will provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service to visitors at the café front of house. You may also undertake the following tasks:

  • Ensure all visitors are attended to in a courteous and efficient manner, while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • Respond to visitor enquiries, dining reservations, bookings, and provide accurate information.
  • General waiting duties and delivery of both food and beverages.
  • Assist in preparation of food and mix/dispense beverages, including liquor products.
  • Clear and wipe down tables.
  • Operate industrial dishwasher, and cleaning of cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery and appliances, including materials, tablecloths and cooking surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness of operational areas.
  • Accurately and confidently process customer payments.
  • Maintain stock and records associated with daily activities and operations, with a focus on front of house.
  • Set up meeting room and café with tables, chairs and equipment for conferences and bookings.
  • Undertake duties associated with opening, closing and daily operations procedures.
  • Occasionally provide relief for other staff to cover lunch breaks and leave absences.
  • Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Position Requirements

To be successful in applying for this role, you should have:

  • a high standard of customer service and the ability to be friendly, approachable and willing to assist.
  • effective written and verbal communication skills with a diverse range of people.
  • demonstrated skills in handling and managing money.
  • the ability to work collaboratively.
  • effective time management skills.
  • a Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate (or willingness to obtain).

You must also be able to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
